“Everything from the gigantic rabbit head hat to the boat hairpiece makes us feel like we fell down a rabbit hole and ended up in a magical (though slightly desolate) version of Versailles.” – Kristen Pisaturo

Ebony Thomas is a DIY musician who goes by the stage name Ebony Bones. Straight out of London, Ebony Bones and her band have played for top fashion designers like Jean Charles De Castelajac and for the Diesel Fashion Show “Be Stupid”.
Jean Charles De Castelajac is hands down one most innovative designers creating today. Each season I can expect to be entertained and inspired from viewing his collections. I can’t wait for the day to be able to attend one of his shows. It would be a dream. Keep reading, I also posted another video from his Spring 2010 show and IQONS.com magazine interviewed him about designing a collection from the Pope and his priests.
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of dining at AXE. The restaurant name AXE is pronounced (ă • shay) and it is a salutation borrowed from Yoruba, where Nigeria is today. AXE means “go with the power of the Gods and Goddesses.”
Accompanied by a friend, we dined on braised brussels sprouts, shrimp and squid pancakes, and ginger ice cream. Yum. I can’t wait to go back.
“Everything that’s built crumbles in time: buildings, cultures, fortunes, and lives,” says Lipman. “The detritus of civilization tells us no less about our current epoch than an archeological dig speaks to history. The urban ruin is particularly compelling because it speaks of the recent past, and reminds us that our own lives and creations will also soon pass into dust. These film, video, and performance works explore decay in a myriad of forms—architectural, cultural, and personal.”
Los Angeles is the land of sunshine and perfect beaches. However, every now and then we get our share of of rain day cold or as I like to think of it, my favorite time of the year. I think the rain provides a well deserved dose of intimacy. Add the intimacy factor, we angeleones turn inward to rediscover the pleasure of soups, window seats wrapped in cashmere blankets, and soulful classical music. By the way, this afternoon I had the best soup ever at Soi 7 in downtown Los Angeles. The Tom Ka Goong soup consisted of lemongrass, mushrooms, curry, and shrimp. Dipping my shrimp in the broth was so so satisfying. The soup was good enough to cause misbehavior or to for go your table manners in favor of sipping the broth to the last drop. I didn’t do it, because I was in the company for a nice gentlemen friend. But if I was at home, well… Check out my selection of music after the jump. (more…)
