As a lover of menswear, I sit up tall to see reinterpretations of classic menswear. Unlike woman’s wear most of time these days, menswear seems to make slow and sublet changes to their classic tailoring. And this is a good thing. As in the pictures above, taking a nice well, fitted blazer, the leather sleeves’ edges up the blazer without taking it out of its classic element.

I can think of someone who would look beautiful in this blazer. Can you?

Diesel Fashion Show “Be Stupid” // ARENA BERLIN 2010 Fashion Week

Jean Charles De Castelajac is hands down one most innovative designers creating today. Each season I can expect to be entertained and inspired from viewing his collections. I can’t wait for the day to be able to attend one of his shows. It would be a dream.  Keep reading, I also posted another video from his Spring 2010 show and IQONS.com magazine interviewed him about designing a collection from the Pope and his priests.

IQONS.com “The most amazing adventure of JC/DC’s life so far was when he was asked to dress 5,000 priests, 500 bishops and the Pope for their visit in Paris. The theme of the collection was the rainbow based on the story of Noah and the arc. God spoke to Noah and told him that “if you see the rainbow in the sky there will be peace between me and the human race”. The idea went over well but JC/DC thought it best to inform the Bishop that the rainbow was also the symbol of the gay community. The Bishop’s reaction was not one of shock rather he said that nobody owned the copyright on the rainbow and that was that. Once the work was completed the Pope spoke to JC/DC: “Young man, you have used colour as a cement of faith.” Read more about the article here.

“The Bridegroom Stripped Bare shows Alexander McQueen at his exuberant best as he transforms a bridegroom into a bride in a frenzy of cutting, ripping, painting and gaffer-taping. McQueen is famous for his cutting and draping skills, often working directly on a garment while a model is wearing it. This film offers a rare glimpse of the designer at work, in what is usually an unseen, intense and private act. It is just one of sixteen performances in the Transformer series, filmed and broadcast live over a two-day period. Fascinated by the idea of transformation and the power of the transformative act, Nick Knight extended an invitation to friends and colleagues including Erin O’Connor, Juergen Teller, Katy England and Bobby Gillespie to devise and be filmed in an act of transformation that held personal significancefor them. While some performances were lighthearted, others provided meaningful insight into the different creative processes at play. This was the first fashion shoot to be broadcast live via webcam, revealing the working methodologies that underpin contemporary fashion image-making in real time.
